All jobs are done under a standard freelancing contract, one I keep deliberately simple. It includes a confidentiality clause, which means I’m not allowed to discuss your project in public unless you specifically give me permission. It also includes a work-for-hire clause, which means that I cannot come back afterwards and claim credit for the book’s success (as a way of demanding more money), for example if the book’s movie rights are sold. I can accept money via Zelle (preferred), PayPal, Venmo, direct wire transfer from your bank, or as an old-fashioned paper check in the mail. For jobs that will be over $500, I kindly request that brand-new clients pay half their bill in advance, although this is not necessary for repeat projects. Full payment is due within 30 days of the job being completed.

I’m typically booked out between two and six weeks from any given day you might contact me, although that changes on a regular basis. Please check with me before making any assumptions about when I might be available. I actively work on two assignments on any given day, four hours in the morning for one and four hours in the afternoon for the other (averaging around 10,000 words edited per day of each, or 20,000 words per day total). The typical hours I’m available for real-time contact is from 8 am to 8 pm Central Standard Time (-5:00 GMT), but messages both through email, the website and Upwork arrive in real time on my phone 24/7.
